Walking through Art and History

Explore rich art and history of the city of Aurangzeb. See the famous Ajanta and Ellora Caves and the Ghrishneshwar Temple, the monasteries and temples, extending over more than 2 km, were dug side by side in the wall of a high basalt cliff, not far from Aurangabad, in Maharashtra. Ellora, with its uninterrupted sequence of monuments dating from A.D. 600 to 1000, brings the civilisation of ancient India to life. Not only is the Ellora complex a unique artistic creation and a technological exploit but, with its sanctuaries devoted to Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism, it illustrates the spirit of tolerance that was characteristic of ancient India.

Visit the famous Bibi Ka Maqbara, which is also called the Replica of Taj Mahal and the 500 years old Ahmednagar fort ,built by Ahmed Nizamshah in 1490 A.D. A deep trench containing water surrounded the fort, which kept the enemy at bay. The Fort had a suspension Bridge which could be lowered in the trench, as time passed this bridge gave way.
